Welcome friends, family, fishermen, tourists and locals alike. Captain Pat here with my first official fishing report. I’m excited to start providing you with frequent updates of what’s happening around here, both on and off the water. I hope this helps me better connect with you and, in return, makes you feel more connected to this beautiful community I’m lucky to call home.

Februrary was an amazing month of fishing in the waters of Fort Myers, Sanibel and Captiva. The sheepshead bite was on fire thanks to the cooler waters. Nice sized snapper have been mixed in too.

While I’m a big supporter of catch and release, sheesphead do make a delicious meal when seared, pan fried or baked. They share similarities with dorade or flounder but offer a bit more bite and more flavor. Sheepshead must be 12" for keeping.

Cool, wet, foggy days won’t stop us from chasing the bite.

As the month came to an end, the weather and water warmed up quickly. The bait moved in and the back bay bite turned on, with big snook, reds, trout and many other species enjoying the above average temperatures.

Looks like one more cold snap for March, then the waters should warm up for good. Who else is ready for an incredible spring fishing season? (I know these guys below are. We had a heck of a three days together on the water at the end of February.)

Nothing like a snook double header to put instant smiles on the faces of my guests.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Take a second to drop a comment and let me know what you’d like to see more of – I’m all ears.

See you on the water!

-Captain Pat
